Person-Centered Dining Practices in Communal Living
This half-day program will review the culture of dining and why it is a frequent concern among those living in communal environments. Participants will:
Define the history and culture of dining
State the guidance from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services pertaining to choice/dignity, home-like environments and dining
Using person-centered care strategies, develop ideas/concepts on how to transform the dining experience from institution to individual

The SuzyQ Cart System: Many facilities struggle financially to meet nutritional needs, maintain the 12-hour rule and offer meal choices. The Hot Food Cart is a system that allows residents to choose meal choices and how much they want to eat. It is based on the philosophy that a care facility is home to a resident and they should have a voice in what food they are served.
