Person-Centered Care for the At-Home Caregiver

It can be a daunting task taking care of an elderly or infirmed person in the home while trying to balance taking care of yourself and managing life’s demands. You worry about safety, keeping them entertained or perhaps you feel as through you need to do everything for them in the interest of time and accuracy.

This full-day program will review the importance of creating a life worth living for the person receiving care while maintaining balance and finding time for self-care. This program pairs nicely with, Creating Safety in the Home.

Participants will:

  • Identify what it means to be a person

  • List challenges that create imbalance when caring for others and making time for self-care

  • Identify ways to empower the person being cared for to create meaning, purpose and to promote sleep

  • Identify ways to avoid making the home an institution full of learned helplessness

  • Discuss insurances and resources to assist in self-care
