Caregivers struggle with getting close to those they care for every day and then losing them. Leaders struggle with how to communicate that someone in the organization has passed away, and antiquated practices flood our buildings whereby no one speaks of those who are dying other than the interdisciplinary team.
This half-day program humanizes the death and dying process unveiling a celebration of life that can provide closure and honor to those that are actively transitioning or those that have passed on. Participants will:
Understand culture as it relates to death and dying
Apply person-centered care principles to establish a basis for how to instill honor, recognition and closure for all those involved with the person who is transitioning or has transitioned
Outline operational practices that can be instituted in both short and long-term timelines
* It is recommended that leadership attend this program along with other department leaders as operational shifts would need to be understood and approved by these individuals.
